Horse training resources by Al Raguzin

In part one of this eight-part series, you’ll learn the importance of understanding your horse and how to become the leader through proper training techniques. Join renowned horse trainer Al Ragusin as he shares his expertise on herd instincts and how to use negative reinforcement to communicate with your horse.

In part two of this eight-part series, Al Ragusin shows you how to Train Your Own Horse.

The three basic saddles used today are the English, Western, and Australian saddles. The English saddle is shallow and does not provide much protection, with the stirrups usually set further forward.

The Western saddle is wider and the stirrups are set more in the middle, making it more difficult to stay balanced if the horse stops suddenly.

The Australian saddle has a deep seat and better protection, with the stirrups set between the middle and forward positions.

In the third installment of this eight-part series, Al Ragusin guides you through learning how to trot your horse.

Trotting is a two-beat gait in which the horse moves its hind legs and diagonally opposite forelegs together, creating a rhythmic motion. In this video, Al will take you through the steps you need to take to ensure your horse is executing the proper trot. He will cover topics such as the horse’s posture, speed, and posture, as well as how to use your body and aids to ensure your horse has the proper form and balance.

With Al’s guidance, you can gain the confidence needed to help your horse successfully master the trot.

In part four of this eight-part series, Al Ragusin talks about the importance of reins and how to properly use them.

This video segment features the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse from Seguin, Texas taking part in an experiment to use Australian style saddles and double reins in place of their regular saddles and reins.

The members of the posse had to get new saddles measured to their exact size and the stirrups had to be carefully adjusted to the exact width of the rider’s hand. Some of them had to get used to riding with longer stirrups, as many had been riding with much shorter ones.

The experiment will test how well the posse have adapted to the new style of riding.

In part six of this eight-part series. Al Ragusin is an experienced horse trainer who started showing and competing with horses in the early 1960s.

He has won several major championships in a variety of disciplines, including reining, western pleasure, dressage, and more, and has over 300 trophies and awards. Al Ragusin is also known for being the first to train a horse to follow the beat of a song, and for having the world’s only true dancing horses. During a recent show, Al Ragusin showcased the Guadalupe County Sherriff’s mounted posse using his double reins and Australian saddle, and compared their performance to when they used their traditional Western tack.

Al Ragusin and several other riders shared their thoughts on the double reins and the Australian saddle, finding them to be comfortable, easy to work with, and offering greater freedom of movement.

Al Ragusin has ridden both Western and Australian saddles and believes they each have their advantages.

n this video, Al Ragusin is helping a client improve their horse riding skills. The rider has limited experience with riding and is looking to learn the basics in a safer environment.

Al Ragusin has them saddle up their horse using their usual equipment and then points out areas for improvement, such as adjusting the stirrups and opening the horse’s mouth correctly before inserting the bit. He also addresses issues with balance and control, suggesting the use of a double rein and an Australian saddle. Al Ragusin then demonstrates how to educate the horse’s mouth by using rubber reins and a martingale.

He explains the process step-by-step and emphasize the importance of being gentle with the horse, who is not used to this type of training.

Developing double reins, a tool to help with horse riding, is the focus of this video.

The reins must be used in a particular manner to get the full advantage of the control they provide. For first-time riders, an Australian saddle is recommended for increased safety. After learning how to ride, riders can upgrade to a better Australian sup, western, or dressage saddle.

To make sure other people are successful, one must first identify their need and assure it with a training method.
