Al Ragusin Jr. was born on January 17, 1938, in Alfred, Texas, a small town south of Dallas-Fort Worth. His family originated in Navarro County, Texas. This distinguished family produced three stars with outstanding military records.

Al's career began training quarter horses in cutting, reining, western pleasure, equitation, and many different disciplines, and has won numerous championship events over his many years. He performs on PBS and has performed at the Rose Bowl.
He also trains and shows his horses in different disciplines including dressage, polo, charro, rejoneador, Spanish dressage, and using his horses. He has performed at the Rose Bowl and he has performed at many different types and events and Mexican music, going both to English and Spanish audiences in his many years doing dressage. He has performed at the Texas State Fair, at least 50 times and has performed all over the USA and Mexico.
